I’ve notices for some time (especially in social media circles) people being obsessed with the word truth. However, this “TRUTH” is often subjective based upon the experience and conditioning of the person relating to it. It is then no longer the “TRUTH”, yet a subjective personal “truth,” which may not be the “TRUTH” at all. Unfortunately, we now live in a society where ‘expressing ones truth’ can often be a ‘non sequitor’ for awful behavior.

On Friday, Jupiter in Cancer will oppose Pluto in Capricorn and this can be an extremely messy aspect. For one, it tends to be very obsessive and often focuses on deeply convicted individual ideals to the point that this aspect can be extremely dogmatic and it is difficult to see another individual’s point of view or perspective. Secondly, since Jupiter expands every planet it touches in the zodiac, it’s aspects to Pluto can increase the planets volatility and quest for power. This can lead to power plays in relationships as well as the workplace. Further, the power of ones convictions can often lead to ruthlessness in your own behavior or the experience of ruthlessness from others.

While this transit is active it is necessary to really take a deep look your ideas and to ask yourself whether or not you are being a bit too dogmatic in your own version of the truth. It may be necessary to take a step back and allow others to have their own personal version of the truth, as well. If this inner insight and reflection is not accomplished and maintained then arguments, passive-aggressive behaviors, and a need to dominate may come to the surface. However, by analyzing this situation and being cognizant of others, you can experience deep transformation in your personal situation.

Over the past 25 years of doing consultations with clients about relationships, I have come to understand that our ideas and beliefs about them morph and change as fast as the latest TV primetime lineup. Years ago, many of the problems that involved relationships were more security based. Women wanted a man to take care of them and provide them with security. Conversely, men wanted women to take care of them as well, but usually in the role of housekeeper and mother.

The good news is that as women have become more independent and self-reliant (and thankfully laws have been changed to allow that), the motivations behind relationships have changed as well. The one thing that has not changed is that many people (not all) enter into relationships with a hidden agenda.

Last week, I was speaking to a client of mine that I have consulted with a few times. She continues to go through problems with her relationship and despite her best efforts she is always fearful that he is going to be unfaithful. She becomes very anxious and heartbroken whenever he does not respond to her texts immediately and then is plagued with negative thoughts that paralyze her for days. She has a really difficult time understanding why he does not want engagement or marriage, and she feels it is because he does not feel that she is the right one. I asked her what she would like to have happen in this relationship and her response was, “I want him to marry me! All of my friends are married and I just want to be like them.” Meanwhile, her boyfriend has just started a business after being laid off in 2011 and is trying to establish himself once again. He has very little time to devote to giving her more in the relationship, and has informed her that he does not feel that he can take on the “responsibility” of marriage at this time. However, the consultation chart I was used showed that he felt pressured by her and this was the reason for his distancing. He actually wants the relationship, but he wants to build a foundation to be able to manage the relationship correctly. Unfortunately, giving him time to be ready to fully engage in a marriage is not what she is looking for. The fact is she has entered the relationship with an agenda because she wants to feel more accepted within her social circle.

So, this got me thinking about relationship struggles in general. How many times do we enter into relationships (this can be any relationship) with a hidden agenda? Despite what our partners tell us, do we often feel that we can change the situation in order to get what we want. When my client first got involved with her boyfriend, she was perfectly fine with him building a new business. Yet, when it started to interfere with her objective, she began to take things personally. This has led to a lot of agonizing pain for her that has her constantly questioning the relationships viability.

On Thursday, Venus in Capricorn will square Mars in Libra. This aspect is notorious for bringing “hidden agendas” out of their closet, and can cause difficulties in relationships. Any form of relationship tension will be tested under this aspect. The good news is that if you are unconscious about these “hidden agendas”, then they will rise to the surface so that you can deal with them constructively rather than infusing your relationship with toxic poisons.

Take some time out to really get clear about your objective in your relationships. This may mean that you have to ask yourself some hard questions including whether or not your relationship is giving you what you want and need at this point in your life. For example, it is not wrong to want to get married. It is not productive to force someone that is not ready for martial commitment to be ready when you want them to be. In addition, you may need to have serious discussions (be careful though because this aspect can cause intense arguments) about your relationships to make sure everyone is on the same page. However, when we get to the roots of what we really want and need we can begin to make decisions and choices that are more productive to achieve what we really desire in the future.

It’s the second Saturday of the New Year and the positive aspect train of the day continues. The last two aspect, (Venus sextile Saturn and Sun conjunct Venus) focused primarily on relationships. This blog post will be more self-focused.

At this point, everyone should have their resolutions sorted, gifted returned and exchanged, and ‘thank you’ letters and cars sent. It’s now time to get down to some serious business and Sun sextile Saturn gives us the right energy to do it.

Since this is a New Year, have you considered what you would like to achieve over the next 365 days? Would you like a new job? Explore a different career path? Find a relationship? There are many different avenue that we can use the New Year to plot some self-improvement, yet in order to achieve the desired results, it might require a bit of work. Sun sextile Saturn is an excellent time to focus on getting things done and examining our ambitions (Saturn rules ambitious oriented Capricorn) and make the plans necessary for you to achieve them in the physical world.

Take some time out of your day today to really analyze the direction you would like to take this year. In addition, list the path to get what you want. If you use mind maps or vision boards, now is the time to get them out. This exercise might require a bit of serious thinking and deep thought, but there is no better time than a Sun sextile Saturn aspect to explore your future in a tangible way with a strategy to get what you want.

Earlier this morning, we had the lovely aspect of Venus retrograde sextile Saturn which has given us an ability to communicate effectively in relationships in order for us to get our relationships moving in the right direction. Now, the Sun is going to conjoin with Venus which is going to put a little sparkly glitter on your already frosted cake.

In horary astrology, one of the aspects that is considered a marriage aspect is Sun conjunct Venus. Additionally, when progressed Venus aspects the Sun or the progressed Sun aspects Venus, significant relationships often occur – relationships that often lead to marriage.

But, why?

The Sun and Venus are both solar planets. The Sun makes us aware of our destiny and its job is to shine. Venus is the relationship planet; she gives us our ability to seek out relationships with others and makes us feel desirable. When these two planets get together, everything just looks better, is more enjoyable, and we put forth our most attractive face. Relationships are messy. They can bring us a level of happiness that we cannot find anywhere else, and they can bring us more misery than many of us care to handle. Relationships can cause the greatest amount of laughter or they can provoke a flood of the most painful tears.

Over the past 25 years as a reader (both astrologically and psychically), the largest lesson that I have learned from my clients is our difficulty understanding the mysterious other in relationships. In many ways, we have a fantasy that everyone that we have emotional feelings for has the same desires we have. This is simply not so! The problem in our relationships is that we have been programmed (through television, magazines, and our social milieu) to believe that we are all seeking the same things in relationships, and as a result we get so caught up in our “physical desires” that we fail to even ask questions that might help us make adequate decisions about relationships. On countless occasions, I have had to tell clients that the problems in relationships is that we tend to believe everyone thinks like we do, and as a result we end up emotional devastated, hurt, and upset when our romantic visions do not materialize the way we would like them to.

On January 11, Venus retrograde in Capricorn sextiles Saturn in Scorpio. This is a very opportunistic aspect to get your relationships headed in the right direction. Saturn likes realism and Venus retrograde provides us the ability to have inner insight into our true needs out relationships. This is a great day for you to do some inner work and ask yourself, “What do I REALLY want and need out of a relationship?” Once you have figured out what you want and need you can then seek out compatible individuals who share the same mindset, if you are single. If you are currently in a relationship, this is a great time for you to sit down with your partner and explore what both of you want out of the relationship and get on the same page with a plan on how to move the relationship forward. This is a great day for great things to happen in relationships – don’t let it pass you by.

Mercury Conjunct Venus – Today’s Astrology — January 7, 2014

Several months ago, a few of the regular readers of my Facebook page and my blog wrote to me and asked if I would start writing my daily astrology articles again. I will admit, I really did not want to do it. I have written them on and off for 10 years and how many times can you really write about daily aspects (which are usually the inner planets aspecting each other) and not eventually get bored with it. I had to find another way of writing about them or I would eventually begin dreading it. So, this incarnation of the Cosmic Weather Forecast, I have decided to find something more meaningful to write about when these aspects occur. You will notice my blending in some self-help tips along with the daily astrology in order for you to use the current planetary energies in a proactive way.

This leads me to Mercury in Capricorn conjoined to Venus in Capricorn Rx. Rx meaning retrograde – that scary word that usually is preceded by the word Mercury. Despite our pop culture knowledge of Mercury retrograde, all the planets except for the Sun and Moon go retrograde. However, the inner planets being retrograde (since they primarily deal with our day to day lives) seem to have the most influence over us. Yet, despite astrologer’s best intentions to describe what occurs during a retrograde process, it still amazes me at how these planetary motions still seem to grab people by the short hairs with their irritations and inconveniences.

I suppose the problem with retrogrades is that they shake up the flow of energy to the point where they feel alien to our modern sensibilities. Many would consider them unnatural – but are they really? So, how can we work with retrogrades in a productive way?

Claire Martin has this to say about retrogrades in her book, “Mapping the Psyche”:

“The words beginning with the prefix ‘re’ (which literally means ‘back again’) tend to be gentle, healing words describing the bringing together of that which has been previously separated. Since retrograde is a word beginning with the prefix ‘re’, we can possibly assume that planets when they are retrograde offer us some avenue towards healing circumstances that have previously been separated. In many cases (especially with Mercury and Venus), retrogrades often bring people back from the past in order for us to achieve emotional closure and help us to move beyond the emotional pain of a situation if we are willing to work with the energy.

On January 7, Mercury in Capricorn will conjoin with Venus retrograde in Capricorn. Venus retrogrades provide us with an opportunity to revisit relationships (a ‘re’ word on its own that may imply that relationships provide us with a vehicle towards inner healing) and partnerships and make repairs where necessary. Of course, this usually includes the ‘toxins’ from relationships making their way to the surface in order to make us aware (annoyingly and painfully) of any problems that may exist. Furthermore, Mercury conjoining Venus provides us a gateway through which to open dialogue and address any relationship concerns that may be occurring. In fact, if used correctly, this aspect gives us the ability to IMPROVE relationships better than ever before. If you have been afraid or hesitant about addressing any relationship concerns, Mercury conjoined with Venus will give you the right words to use and the diplomacy (lovely Venusian word) to achieve the results you want.
