I will be the first person to admit that the day before a major holiday is a difficult time to focus even under the most ardent astrological aspects. Our minds are usually focused on festivities, preparations, or dealing with family members that we may or may not have the best of relations. The holidays can be downright stressful! Today we may find it more difficult to focus because the two aspects that occur are not real fond of duty or responsibility and as such we may be more focused on the holiday weekend and ‘Black Friday’ sales than normal.

First up, we have Venus in Sagittarius in trine to Uranus in Aries. This pairing is not real happy with confinement or day to do monotony. Instead, Venus and Uranus are concerned with freedom, enjoyment, and the need to do something other than what we do every single day. It may be necessary to find new forms of entertainment and amusement or spend some time doing things that are exciting and a change of pace for you. Venus trine Uranus dovetails right into the next aspect – Sun in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces. This can feel very discouraging especially if you feel overwhelmed by the day to day burdens of ordinary life. This aspect is confusing at best and we often have great difficulties seeing the forest between the trees. It’s recommended that you only take care of immediate concerns and put off any form of activities that are less pressing or can be handled on another day.

Today, Venus in fun loving Sagittarius makes a difficult aspect to idealistic Neptune. Despite the difficulties that this transit presents, it’s not without its merits. This is a great day to use your imagination and is wonderful for creative work or play. However, the same factors that secrete creative juices can lead to difficulties in relationships because our expectations may be too high or unrealistic at this time. This could lead to frustrations and resentments if your loved ones do not respond accordingly. For relationships that have a solid foundation, this transit moves relatively quickly, and your feelings will improve in a few days. But, if relationships are built on fantasy and unrealistic idealisms, this transit can trigger difficulties that ultimately will need to be resolved with a large dose of reality.

We have two rather intensive astrological aspects that we are dealing with today. The first is Venus conjunct Saturn in the sign of Scorpio and the second is Mars in Capricorn in square to Uranus in Aries – both aspects can be very difficult in relationships because together they invoke ambivalence.

Let’s begin with Venus conjunct Saturn. This aspect can make us feel rather insecure in our relationships – especially if the relationship is already problematic. In many ways, this aspect brings to the surface all the reasons why we are settling out of a sense of duty to other individuals rather than emotional connection and erotic passions. Further, you may feel less inclined to opening up in relationships because Saturn can induce a need for withdrawal and may indicate a difficulty relating to others at this time.

This dovetails into the restless and impulsive energies that are naturally inherent with Mars square Uranus. These two planets together can be rather explosive and there is a tendency to ‘blow up’ anything that is rudimentary and stale. In fact, the areas of your life that have become overly bound to duty and responsibility can be very apparent at this time making you feel rather agitated. It may be necessary for you to come to terms with your internal frustrations; otherwise, the more difficult traits of this aspect – impulsiveness, rashness, and reactive behavior can rise to the surface.

Now, back to the ambivalence. These two aspects are differently opposite in nature. One reflects being bound to others despite our feelings and the other reflects the need to break free from constraints that may be limiting your potential. It’s necessary that you take some time to be true to yourself and honor both these aspects. It may require compromise or you may need to break off old ties all together. Sometimes the only duty that matters is the one to ourselves.

It’s a good thing that today is a Sunday because the excessive energy of Venus in Scorpio square Jupiter in Leo may be a bit much for the middle of the work week. You see, Venus loves the good things in life – expensive clothes, beautiful possessions, a lovely home and plenty of pleasure. When you add Jupiter to the mix, Venus becomes quite the party animal concerned with letting the good times roll. You may be inclined today to have lots of fun (and you should); throwing caution to the wind. A day of shopping, spending time with friends, and even hot romance with your significant other are all on the menu. However, you must avoid doing anything to excess because the emotional fervor of this aspect may lead you into compulsive behaviors. Further, personal relationships under these conditions are favored because you will be enjoyable and a pleasure to be around.

You will find your emotions more intense than normal, and you will find it necessary to feel close to those you love. Your passions will be in high gear and you will need an outlet to express them. Today, Venus in Scorpio trines Neptune in Pisces. This aspect tends to bring out the best in people and you will find them more compassionate and loving over the next few days. If you need to clear up disagreements, make amends, or discuss difficult issues with someone, now would be the time to do so.

Although Venus and Neptune in aspect are not great for completing tasks or getting things done, this aspect is great for relationships and creative activities. If you are currently in a relationship, today is a great day to express the depth of your feeling to your partner. But if you are single, Neptune trine Venus is a bit idealistic for new relationships because they tend to be based on unrealistic expectations and ultimately lead to disappointment.
